Call for nominations of ICTP Award for young researchers

JSTP (Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity) awarded Professor Taylan Altan a gold medal for the JSTP International Prize for Research and Development in Precision Forging in 1996. In order to develop human resources in this
research area, Professor Altan donated this gold medal to JSTP in 2014, which in turn was used to produce approximately 20 small new medals. JSTP
decided to use these medals to establish the JSTP International Award for young researchers.

1. Purpose of prize and name

JSTP honors young researchers for an excellent paper and presentation at the ICTP conference as "JSTP International Award for young researchers" with a gold medal.

2. Submitted documents and deadline

(1) Nomination form with recommendation letter by the recommender
  (One supervisor can recommend only one young researcher.)
(2) Paper submitted to ICTP 2023
(3) Deadline: May 19, 2023

3. Requirements of prize candidate

(1) Paper presentation at ICTP conference
(2) Under 35 years of age as of Sept. 1, 2023.

4. Method of selection

The selection committee is composed of members and advisers of Standing Advisory Board/ICTP
(1) Prescreening: Each candidate is reviewed by at least 3 members of the selection committee, and approximately 10 candidates are selected at the SAB/ICTP meeting.
(2) Final selection: Presentations of selected candidates are evaluated by the selection committee to determine final winners.

5. Number of award winners

The maximum number of winners per one ICTP conference is three.

6. Award ceremony

Winners will be announced on the occasion of the farewell party, and a plaque with a gold medal will be awarded to the winners.
